ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

“I invite you on a journey through five centuries of French song, revealing all the poetic and musical richness of this genre. From the playful and joyful verve of Clément Janequin to the raw and profound emotion of Jacques Brel, via the harmonic delicacies of Debussy, Ravel and Poulenc, the a cappella choir explores a little-known connection between Renaissance polyphonic song and 20th-century popular song, offering a fresh take on the genre."

Christopher Gibert

Each page reveals the French language's capacity to become music, by turns playful, amorous, tragic or dreamy. The vocal arrangements, faithful to the styles of each era, offer a fresh take on these works, highlighting their literary depth and formal beauty. A programme based on a living heritage that creates a dialogue between centuries and sensibilities.
