ABOUT THIS PROGRAM
Heaven, Earth, Man. From this trinity emanates a single aspiration: that of humanity seeking peace and beauty in music. This programme brings together voices from the 20th century united by their faith in light, despite the darkness of their times. At the heart of the programme, Francis Poulenc's cycle ‘Figure humaine’ stands out as a highlight. Based on poems by Paul Éluard, this clandestine cantata gives voice to the brotherhood of voices in the face of barbarism. A cry of love, hope and freedom, it remains one of the spiritual monuments of the 20th century. Echoing this heritage, the choir has commissioned French composer Lise Borel to write a new work on the theme of peace.
From Britten to Poulenc, from Ravel to Borel, a path of light emerges – a meditation on the fragility and beauty of the world, where the voice becomes an instrument of peace.
