ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

This programme explores the world of impressionist and post-romantic composers who, at the turn of the 20th century, sought to create a dialogue between voice, text and sound colour in a quest for pure poetry. Through the choral works of Debussy, Fauré, Ravel, Le Flem, Delius and, above all, Lili Boulanger, the aim is less to narrate than to suggest: a flicker of light, a memory of water, a breath in the trees, a prayer without dogma.

The musical experience is punctuated by piano improvisations that create sensitive transitions, connect contrasting worlds, or simply offer the listener a poetic respite. These free, ephemeral moments underscore what the Impressionist composers sought so ardently: the suspended moment, that fragile instant when sound becomes light and silence becomes presence.

Thus, Impressionnistes is conceived as an inner journey, where choral music and improvisation intertwine to better allow the invisible to resonate.
